Making the Perfect Salsa

Because this Homemade Salsa recipe is so simple to throw together, we think it’s going to become one of your go-to favorites. Let us show you how to make the best, and easiest salsa!  Here’s what you need to know when making your salsa. The consistency of the salsa depends on the water content of the tomatoes. Tomatoes have a high water content so to ensure your salsa isn’t too runny we have two tips.  First, roughly chop your tomatoes before putting them into the food processor so that they don’t start out too tiny and turn into mush.  Secondly, once you have all of your ingredients in the food processor only pulse a few times! If you like a smoother salsa with no chunks then you’ll continue to blend until you reach the desired consistency.

How to Make Homemade baked Tortilla Chips

Making chips at home is easier than you think!  You only need 3 ingredients: corn tortillas, cooking oil, and salt. This homemade version of chips is less oily and salty than many of the store-bought brands and a much healthier choice. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Using a sharp knife (or a pizza cutter!) cut the corn tortillas into 6 or 8 triangles. Place triangles evenly in a single layer on a baking sheet. Spray lightly with cooking oil (we like avocado oil) and sprinkle with salt. Bake the chips for 8-12 minutes, checking them at the 8-minute mark and rotating the pans. The chips are done when the edges are crisp and the chips are dry.  Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the chips to cool.  As the chips cool, they’ll continue to crisp. When chips are cool, remove them from the baking sheet and serve. If you are not serving the chips right away, store them in an airtight container.
