Fresh from the orchard apple slices topped with a nut crumble and baked in the oven. This recipe for Healthy Apple Crisp has no refined sugar, is gluten-free and dairy-free for a guilt-free dessert, breakfast or snack!
Add the peeled and sliced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup and vanilla extract to a large bowl. Stir to combine and spread the mixture evenly into a baking dish.
In another bowl combine the dry topping ingredients, then stir in the coconut oil. Spread the topping over the apple mixture and sprinkle the top with additional cinnamon (optional).
Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Optional: mix Greek yogurt, cinnamon and maple syrup in a bowl and use it as a topping for the freshly baked apple crisp. If using this topping you will want to let the crisp cool for about 20-30 minutes before adding the yogurt or it will just melt!
