  • Fish – Add a rich spice flavor to our recipe for traditional Fish Plaki (Oven Baked Fish)
  • Beef –  Incorporate a Mediterranean flavor to this recipe for Crock Pot Low Carb Beef Stew
  • Vegetables –  OMG! This is so delicious on vegetables!!  Toss your favorite vegetables in some olive oil, then sprinkle on some Greek Spice Blend, and then roast them in a 375-degree oven. Now that’s a perfect side dish!  Don’t forget to sprinkle some on your veggies before steaming or grilling too!
  • Looking for a simple salad dressing? Add a teaspoon of Greek Spice Blend to ½ cup of olive oil and ¼ cup red wine vinegar to make a delicious salad dressing.

Spices and Herbs To Use

A version of this spice blend is used in many Greek dishes.  What sets the Greek blend apart from other spice blends is that you can customize the blend depending on the unique flavor you are trying to achieve. The main ingredients found in Greek Spice Blend are as follows:

  • Onion Flakes
  • Thyme
  • Greek Oregano
  • Salt
  • Dill
  • Garlic Powder
  • Pepper
  • Marjoram
  • Basil
  • Parsley

Customize the recipe with other spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ground clove, cumin and mint to make your own special blend!  Some dishes like our Pasta With Greek Meat Sauce use the addition of warm spices like cinnamon and ground cloves, so we usually made two different blends to keep on hand.

How To Store Greek Spice Blend

The best way to store your spice blend is in an air-tight glass jar.  Keep in mind that all of your spices should be stored in glass containers and kept in a cool, dry place.  It’s definitely a bad idea to store your spices next to the stove, as they will lose flavor and dry out when exposed to heat.  Storing your spices properly will allow them to remain fresh for 6 months.
