Chamomile, also called chamomili in Greek is a very popular tea in Greece. Not only do the flowers grow wild in Greece but many people also grow it in their gardens or in patio pots. A mild, floral-like taste with a hint of sweetness best describes this drink. This drink has a long tradition in Greece as being an herbal remedy, used for stomach woes, treating colds, and also as a mild calming sedative. Having a cup before bedtime, especially on cold nights, helps to relax the mind and body.

4 Easy Steps to Make Chamomile Tea

  1. Place about 1 tablespoon of dried chamomile into your tea infuser.
  2. Using a tea kettle or pot, heat 8 ounces of water until it boils. When small bubbles begin to form, the water is ready.
  3. Add the hot water to your cup. Place your tea infuser in the water.
  4. Allow the tea to steep for five minutes.

If you want to add some sweetness to your tea, add a teaspoon of pure honey–a little goes a long way. A splash of fresh lemon is also a great addition to this tea! Some other great add-ins are fresh ginger, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar or if you’re feeling adventurous a shot of whiskey to turn it into a Hot Toddy!
